  • By Public Transport: Buses are available from Kathmandu’s Ratna Park Bus Station to Panauti.

  • By Private Vehicle: It takes about 1.5 hours to reach Panauti by private car or taxi from Kathmandu.

  • Ideal Time: Panauti is accessible year-round, and it is the best time to visit during the festive seasons.

  • Transfer Options: The homestay can arrange transportation for guests upon request.

What To Expect

Begin your journey early from Rongli, navigating the lush green hills towards Zuluk. Experience the thrilling ride through the serpentine Zuluk loops, one of the most scenic routes in India. Stop at Thambi Viewpoint for a panoramic sunrise over the Kanchenjunga range. Proceed to Baba Mandir, where stories of the revered soldier-saint creates a deeply spiritual atmosphere. Drive further to Nathu La, where the high-altitude pass greets you with fluttering prayer flags and views of the Chinese border. Does the homestay provide drinking water?

Yes, your hosts will provide boiled water, which is safe to drink. We encourage guests to opt for boiled water instead of plastic bottles to help protect the environment.

There is a mix of squat and western washroom facilities within homestays. If you need a western washroom, please let us know when booking; we can allocate it if it is available.
